Natural Ways To Treat Inflammation In Your Pet

Natural Ways To Treat Inflammation In Your Pet

For a pet to live a happier and healthier life, they must be well taken care of. Sometimes, however, health conditions develop that the pet owner has no control over. What you do have control over is pain management. According to reports, 70% of households own a pet, and some have dealt with inflammation. If you belong to this group, below are a few natural ways to manage the associated pain.

    1. Turmeric

Scientific research has shown that turmeric has several health benefits. Apart from the immense advantages, it holds for humans; it does the same for pets. Curcumin, the main compound in turmeric, has anti-inflammatory properties that help resolve or reduce painful inflammation. It releases antioxidants that target and fight free radicals that are primarily responsible for the pain and inflammation in the body.

It is advisable to exercise caution when treating your pet's inflammation with turmeric. You may not know the ideal dosage and how often to administer it. Unregulated high doses of turmeric can be detrimental to your pet's health. It can trigger acute digestive problems and act as a blood thinner. Therefore, you will need a veterinarian's advice before administering it to your pets. On the other hand, if you're going with a pet-specific turmeric formula, it is recommended to read the label.

    2. CBD oil

One surprising revelation in exploring alternative therapies is how cannabidiol could help animals. Upon research, it was discovered that cbd binds to animal cells just like it does in humans. This implies that it has tremendous health benefits for animals. One example is the ability to resolve inflammatory issues in dogs and cats. Although more research is required to determine the full benefits for pets, there is hope that cbd will have more positive health contributions for household pets.

    3. Cinnamon

Cinnamon essential oils may not be ideal for puppies because they risk irritating their digestive tracts. However, because statistics indicate that 92% of inflammatory issues occur in older dogs, they can still get the benefits. In these pets, the inflammation usually affects the joints, stomach, bowel, and fatty tissues. In many cases, a pet's onset of inflammatory disease starts with appetite loss. You may also notice unusual scratching, swelling, and excessive self-grooming, especially at the site of pain (if their tongue can reach it).

You can easily detect these signs and symptoms when you know your pet's daily habits. You can find cinnamon extract in a lot of pet supplements. However, if you want to go the natural way, veterinarians say one teaspoon of cinnamon daily can help fight inflammation. You may want to do this for only five to seven days, after which you can check for any improvement in your pet's condition. However, if symptoms persist, it may be time for the vet to come in with another treatment plan. Continuing with the cinnamon treatment in large quantities can trigger liver disease or low blood sugar, especially in dogs.

This piece is not meant to be a replacement for proper pet care. This is why any decision you take regarding your pet's health must be in consultation with a vet.
