Amazon Echo Smart Glasses: How Do They Work & What Are The Benefits?

How Do The Amazon Echo Glasses Work?

The Echo Frames are glasses which allow users to make commands to Alexa and hear the replies, completely hands-free. Users can also use amazon echo glasses for audio streams. You can use the glasses to control the tech features of your home or play you your favorite song. If you require, you can turn off the microphones, and you can also program the glasses so that you alone can hear the response. Some wonder whether the glasses might be a little too heavy; however they are just 31 grams, the same as normal glasses. These frames get approximately 14 hours of battery life a day, which is an estimated 90 notifications, 40 Alexa interactions and 45 minutes of music or podcasts. There are plenty of benefits of the Amazon Echo glasses, so let's take a closer look.

1 . Use prescription lenses

Customers can use their prescription lenses with amazon echo glasses. Your optometrist can fit your lenses to amazon echo glasses in the same way that any other eyeglasses would be fitted. Amazon has also provided a printable card of information for eye doctors who are asked to fit these frames. Those with certain types of vision insurance may qualify for discounts, info about these discounts is available on the Amazon site.

2. Hands-free

With the Amazon Echo glasses, you can control the tech features around your home, entirely hands-free. Whether you want to listen to podcasts, hear the news, access your calendar or play a game, you can do all of this and more! Using a four beam-forming micro-speaker, the sound is transmitted at your ears, and so it's difficult for other people around you to hear.

3. Make calls

If you share your contact list with Amazon, you can use the Echo Frames to call anyone you please. It's a pretty nifty feature, which makes phone calls that little bit more convenient and fun. (Bet you never thought you'd be able to do that with your eyeglasses)!

Many people are concerned about their safety when using the Internet, as well as their privacy. With this in mind, let’s take a look at the echo frames privacy details.

4. Privacy details

Amazon Echo Frames work in the same way as the Amazon Echo. The Alexa device is continuously listening out for the 'wake word'. The wake word is usually Alexa; however you can set it to a different word like 'computer' if you prefer. Once the wake word is spoken, the Echo Frames record the user's voice and send the audio to Amazon servers. There it is processed and sent back. According to Amazon, the voice recordings are rarely listened to by a human, besides a small amount for development tasks.

All in all, the amazon echo glasses are a great choice. You can use your prescription lenses with an attractive and lightweight pair of glasses. Best of all, you can control various tech systems and make Alexa-based commands. If you already love your Amazon Alexa, a pair of these glasses will likely be for you!

  1. Wow. I'm intrigued by what Amazon will come with next. I'd consider these for myself as I wear prescription glasses and enjoy using my Echo! I looked it up and they are by invitation only at the moment. I don't have 180.00 to spare but I hope in the future the price will come down and they will be widely available. Neat!

  2. Neat! I haven't heard much about this but it seems like an innovative new tech item that would be nice to have. I don't think I would get a pair though, as I tend to be a little too careless with my glasses!

  4. Interesting that Amazon is trying this after the fail of Google glass. As someone who wears glasses, I would never wear these. Too clunky, manly and ugly. It will be interesting to see if these take off.

  19. I wear glasses and I'm not sure that I'd wear something like this. If it's hands free, how do you make phone calls? Do you have to blink or move your head a certain way?

  22. I think they're a good way for the government to keep tabs on you. They already do this with most smart products. I don't think I'd want to take the chance.
