Be Patient
Recovery can take a long time, and it might be months or even years before your loved one is back to their old self. Encourage Independence

A vital part of getting well after a long-term illness or an accident is learning to live and work as independently as possible. So although you’ll need to be with them a lot of the time, try to incorporate other times in their schedule when they need to do things alone. This might be cooking or cleaning the house, for example, or going to the store for food. A good balance of independence and hands-on help is definitely a good way to assist a loved one recovering from an illness.
