3 Tips To Help You Stay Better Hydrated

Hydration is really important and getting enough water is something that many of us fail to do every day, despite the fact that it sounds quite easy! If you don't get enough water, you can experience symptoms of dehydration, which can start with minor things like a mild headache and feeling of lethargy but can lead up to some dangerous conditions. Keeping hydrated will also help your metabolism working at its best, keep your energy levels up, and keep the toxins in your body being flushed out as they should be.

So, how can you make easy changes to your lifestyle to make sure you get the benefits of good hydration every day?

Staying Hydrated – Drink Something You Like!

For many people, the main reason they struggle to drink enough water is that plain water just isn't very inspiring. This is why companies like Bevi that provide water machines for offices and other public places are starting to give options like sparkling flavored water so that people can hydrate and also have a taste they enjoy. Believe it or not, almost anything you drink (with the exception of alcoholic or strong caffeinated drinks, which have a diuretic effect and actually dehydrate you) counts towards your hydration, and so if you would rather never drink plain water, you just have to make sure you are drinking something! Most people prefer to avoid a high-calorie intake from what they drink, but things like fruit tea infusions and low-calorie soft drinks can be a good choice. Of course, getting used to drinking plain water is the best - it is available everywhere and often free - so do try to get into a water habit if you can!

Water From Food

A surprising amount of your daily water requirement actually comes from food. Just like people, most plants and animals are made up mostly of water, after all. Eating things with high water content like fruits and watery vegetables such as cucumber and celery can be a good way to increase your hydration without pounding down even more cups of water!

Drink Without Thinking

Make sure you always have a bottle of water with you, for instance, on your desk at work or in your purse when you are walking around. Sip from it regularly until it becomes a habit to just be taking regular drinks while you are doing other things. You can also start to slip drinking a glass of water into your routine in other places, for instance, when you wake up and before a meal. The more it is a habit to drink some water, the less you will ever have to worry about forgetting to do it, and, if it is something you don't especially like doing, you won't really notice the chore so much if it is something you do absentmindedly.

You only have to make an effort to drink more and include watery foods in your diet for a little while before it becomes second nature to stay hydrated, so start working on your habits now!
